Either accept or convert

Sometimes our plans don’t happen the way we imagined.
That’s life.
I know.
I find that by first accepting the situation as it presents itself, if possible without much fighting, allows us to transform it.
As many of you know, my husband and I moved to the D.C. area last year. So, last February, we decided that, somehow, we would go to the 2021 presidential inauguration.
The Capitol building is so attractive and full of meaning for us!
Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to visit the National Mall last week.
But, guess what, we realized our desire by visiting this American landmark during the weekend following inauguration.
I’m grateful for that.
What’s one seemly unpleasant situation you got to transform this Monday? Please feel free to share.

SANDRA BISSELL

My name is Sandra Bissell.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to live as an expatriate for more than 2 decades.

Some of my passions are people, my family, good conversations, traveling, ethnic food, dancing and Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian-Martial-Art-Dance.

Originally from the countryside of São Paulo state, in Brazil, I have enjoyed life in Kanagawa and Aichi prefectures, in Japan, Boston and San Diego cities, in the United States, São Paulo, Brazil, as an expatriate in my own country, Zurich – Switzerland and most recently Stamford, Connecticut, back to the United States.

As you may guess, I feel the most comfortable within the international community.
