Overwhelm is a Choice

I have been feeling overwhelmed by all the bad news since yesterday.

Overwhelm is not a new feeling for me. Indeed, it’s one of the faces of my many saboteurs – those annoying voices in my head.

There are lots of valid reasons to justify my overwhelming feelings today. Some of these reasons are mundane, such as the dishes waiting to be put away in the kitchen. Others feel urgent. These are reactions to the horrible news about my adopted country and the global pandemic impacting our lives.

The sage in me, the wisdom inside of all of us, knows that I have a choice to make.

I can decide how I feel and react to the occurrences in my life.

This morning, I’m tapping into the exploration power of my inner sage and connecting with my community. By doing so, I can shift from overwhelm into hope for a better future for this country I love and for the world.

How do you shift from feelings that don’t serve you into feelings that allow for growth and expansion?

Please share.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to live as an expatriate for more than 2 decades.

Some of my passions are people, my family, good conversations, traveling, ethnic food, dancing and Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian-Martial-Art-Dance.

Originally from the countryside of São Paulo state, in Brazil, I have enjoyed life in Kanagawa and Aichi prefectures, in Japan, Boston and San Diego cities, in the United States, São Paulo, Brazil, as an expatriate in my own country, Zurich – Switzerland and most recently Stamford, Connecticut, back to the United States.

As you may guess, I feel the most comfortable within the international community.
